Many Local Authorities request that developers provide an Energy Statement as part of their planning application.
The request is normally coupled with a minimum sustainability standard, for example – to demonstrate that at least 10% of the expected energy demand of the building is provided by a Low to Zero Carbon Energy Source, or – that the building will be constructed to Code for Sustainable Homes Level 3 or BREEAM ‘very good’ standards.
A Complete Energy Statement includes the following information:
- energy efficiency of the building (calculated using SAP or SBEM)
- results of an LZC Feasibility Test
- predicted annual energy demand of the building
- predicted annual carbon emissions of the building
- contribution of each proposed Low to Zero Carbon / Renewable Energy Source
- cost of feasible renewable energy sources
- summary of the benefits of each renewable energy source proposed
- predicted annual energy saved by adopting each renewable energy source
- predicted annual carbon emissions saved by adopting each renewable energy source
All Complete Energy Statements are prepared by our highly qualified and experienced Sustainable Energy Consultants.
